Effective stretches for people with lower back pain

The spine, along with the sternum and ribs formed a trunk. The spine is made up of 33 vertebrae, which have inter-vertebral discs in between them. These discs not only permit movement, but also serve as a shock absorber. Lower back pain can be specific (e.g. trauma, osteoporosis), nerve root pain (sciatica) or non-specific (sprain, strain or compression). Non-specific lower back pain is the most common occurring from of back pain and can be easily treated.


Up to 80% of the population will have an episode of lower back pain at some point in their lifetime. Lower back pain is a debilitating condition that can cause anxiety, depression and affect your ability to carry out daily tasks. It is important to remain as mobile as you can with this condition as this can and will aid your recovery. Below are key stretches that you can do in the comfort of your own home, to try and manage your pain.
