The obsession with checking our weight on the scales is a prevalent phenomenon in our society. While scales can offer valuable information and help us track our progress, it is perplexing why so many of us allow this numerical value to hold such power over our self-worth. The number displayed on the scale does not always accurately reflect our overall health or well-being. For instance, an individual weighing 70 kg may feel sluggish and overweight, while another person of the same weight could be toned, energetic, and confident.

It is crucial not to let the numbers on the scales dictate our lives. Instead of solely relying on weight as a measure of progress, there are various other effective methods to monitor our fitness journey. Keeping track of the amount of resistance lifted during strength training, noting rest periods between sets, monitoring running speed or distance covered, assessing how clothes fit, recording waist/body measurements, tracking body fat percentage, and taking progress photos can provide a more holistic view of our progress.

By shifting the focus away from the scale, we may start noticing other positive changes in our bodies and minds. Improved sleep quality, better skin condition, and increased energy levels are just a few examples of non-scale victories that often accompany a consistent exercise routine. The sense of well-being and confidence that comes from regular physical activity is immeasurable and should be cherished as the most valuable outcome of our fitness journey.
